The pre-Connected XMAX 250.

Still worth renting

The same big touring scooter without the TFT dash and the connectivity, which are the two things you are least likely to use on a two-week rental. If a shop has one at a lower rate than the current model it is the sensible choice, but read the deposit line first, because an XMAX of either generation carries the highest deposit of anything on this site.

Who it suits

  • Touring
  • Two-up over long distances
  • Experienced riders

The choice for covering the island properly, two-up, with luggage. It is stable at speed in a way nothing smaller here is, and the 13-litre tank makes a full-day loop a non-event.

On Bali roads

Superb on the long runs to Amed, Lovina or West Bali. Poorly suited to central Ubud or the Canggu lanes, where its size is a liability.

Worth knowing. At 184kg it is heavy if you drop it, needs a full motorcycle licence and IDP, and commands the highest daily rates in this index.
